Hold a stone in your hands. Use your external senses to “get to know” the stone. Feel the stone with your fingers, notice smoothness, roughness, edges
As you greet the Holy One at the arrival of the New Year, what is arising within you?
As you sit in the woods, reflect on your life. Ponder the part of your life that feels satisfying and rewarding: the dimension of it that is like the plenitude and fullness of an autumn harvest, the part that is mellow and fulfilling.
Autumn is slipping through summer’s branches, and I am listening. I am listening to the dying, flowing forth from autumn’s being. I am listening to the life hidden in the dying. I am listening.
Here I am surrounded by trees filled with fruit, gardens filling up with ripening vegetables, flower beds in the prime of their life. This is my gift to those who embrace my warm, nurturing breath.
